Work Environment: The Custodian will work in an environment adhering to the School Board energy policy. Workday consist of regular school hours. Then length of the workday varies as the result of evening activities or emergencies. In addition, job responsibilities may require work on weekends or holidays and attendance at meetings.
Communication Skills: The Custodian must be able to effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing. Must have ability to accurately give and receive information via telecommunication system and must be able to communicate successfully with students, teachers, parents, school personnel, and the community.
Equipment Used: The Custodian should be able to use a telephone, audio-visual equipment, computer, copy machine, laminator, calculator, and other appropriate machines and equipment relative to office management.
Physical and Mental Involvement:
Strength: Exert force of 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Other Physical Demands: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, near acuity
(Under 20 inches). Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity Level - Moderate
The Custodian must be able to perform these physical activities: standing, walking, reaching bending, and lifting 40 to 50 pounds (sometimes required). The Custodian must be able to plan and implement appropriate custodial projects. Must be able to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions. Must keep accurate, up-to date records. Must be able to comply with federal, state and parish regulations.
Human Relations: The Custodian must be able to work cooperatively with district personnel and the community. Must be able to respond appropriately to supervision and accept commendations and recommendations. Must demonstrate sensitivity/understanding in interpersonal relations with persons of diverse cultures/backgrounds.
